On Monday, May 23, Lamar Pitts was arrested at the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office where he was processed and charged with aggravated manslaughter, weapon offenses and possession of a stolen firearm, according to Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Cary S. Shill.
Pitts also was charged with additional weapons offenses for an incident in Pleasantville that occurred a week prior to the homicide, Shill said
Pitts was detained and was being held in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
“I want to credit the Pleasantville Police Department the ACPO Major Crimes Unit for the swift identification and apprehension of the suspect in this matter," Shill said.
On Monday morning, just after midnight, Pitts shot Martin-Richardson at her residence and she succumbed to her injuries at her home after receiving life-saving attempts by medical personnel. Pitts and Martin-Richardson had a dating relationship and the firearm, determined to be stolen, and used in the shooting was recovered during the course of the investigation, Shill said.
Condolences poured in for the family on social media.
Her two sons were home asleep at the time of the shooting, Breaking AC reported.
